The SCOUT 2 is a multi-form robotic platform designed to combine mobility and manipulation in a single reconfigurable system.
Its defining feature is the modular architecture: the same units can be set up as locomotion limbs (legs), wheeled drive systems, or multi-DoF robotic arms. This lets the user quickly adapt the robot to very different operating scenarios — from fast navigation on even ground, to locomotion in complex environments, up to precise manipulation tasks.
From an operational standpoint, the system is designed to optimize resources and logistics: one robot replaces multiple dedicated platforms, cutting costs, footprint, and integration complexity.
Performance is advanced for its class:
Speed up to about 5 m/s in wheeled configuration and 2–3 m/s in biped mode;
Payload capacity up to about 10 kg with combined use of the arms;
Typical endurance on the order of 2–4 hours depending on the operating profile, with fast charging (about 30 minutes for 80%).
The sensor suite integrates RGB-D cameras and distributed inertial units, enabling full environmental perception and supporting advanced AI applications and low-latency teleoperation.
The SCOUT 2 arm configuration enables advanced manipulation thanks to 7 DoF per limb, high precision and fine control. It can operate in complex environments while maintaining dynamic stability. Typical use cases include EOD tasks, such as removing or moving suspicious objects, and automated logistics, e.g., picking and handling loads in unstructured warehouses or dynamic industrial scenarios.
The wheeled setup of the SCOUT 2 prioritizes speed and efficiency on smooth surfaces, reaching up to about 5 m/s, making it ideal for rapid patrol, logistics and inspections over long distances. Leg mode, instead, ensures mobility on complex, unstructured terrain, allowing it to overcome obstacles and stairs.
